Frequently Asked Questions

Teeth Whitening

Who is not suitable for teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is not recommended for people under 16 years of age and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not recommended if you have poor oral hygiene and have not had a dental clean in many years. This treatment is also not recommended if you require any major dental work and experience very irritated/bleeding gums.

Would anything reduce my results?

Yes, recent use of home whitening can slightly reduce results. Your teeth translucency/thickness, diet and smoking habits can also affect your results.

What if my teeth are too sensitive?

We will always test the whitening gel for 10 seconds before properly applying it to your teeth.

Many people experience sensitivity in general. We will discuss the options at your consultation. We may recommend our desensitising gel to be applied before/after our whitening treatment as this will help with sensitivity. Alternatively, we also have a 24k gold desensitising gel which is gentle on teeth for those with sensitivity.

What products are used in this treatment?

We use a high grade whitening gel containing 6% hydrogen peroxide, which is very effective for teeth whitening. However, it can be harmful to your gums. To safeguard your gums, we apply a protective gel barrier (gingival barrier) to prevent any contact between the whitening gel and your gum tissue.

We use a safe LED light to increase the teeth whitening process without emitting heat to the teeth.

Sensitivity: If you experience general sensitivity, we may recommend our desensitising gel applied before or after whitening treatment as this will help with sensitivity. Alternatively, we also have a 24k gold desensitising gel which is gentle on teeth for those with sensitivity.

What is the 24k gold desensiting gel?

The 24k Gold Whitening Gel is peroxide free & contains sodium hydroxide which is highly effective for teeth whitening. When mixed with the gold particles, an effective whitening result is achieved. We recommend this treatment if you have sensitive teeth - It's our go-to product to aid sensitivity & provides a comfortable whitening experience.

What results will be expected?

The results may vary on each individual depending on your age, diet and oral hygiene. Recent use of home whitening can slightly reduce results. Our whitening will usually lighten tooth colour by 7 or more shades. Please note, each shade on our shade guide is equivalent to 2 shades.

How long will my results last?

Longevity depends on each individual but generally is 6 months. This depends on the re-staining on your teeth which diet and lifestyles contribute to this. Coffee, tea, sodas and certain foods will stain the surface of your teeth. Please follow our aftercare! We recommend an addition top up treatment to really lock in your results!
